    1. Minutes/(Master’s) Reports, 12 November 1855 – 27 April 1874. Entries for 1855-56 are in the form of minutes, but subsequent entries are in the form of weekly reports on the conduct, comings and goings, and church and Sunday school attendance, of the apprentices (by the master). Operated by the Protestant Orphan Society, the Home contained orphans, but also children placed there by their parents for training. Dated 26 May 1873 is a report by the Honorary Secretary [Protestant Orphan Society], regarding the state of the house ‘which is most objectionable in every way, and calculated to prejudice any visitor against the Society’. He recommends moving to new premises. 2. Apprentices’ Clothing Account Book, 1881-1899. Record of clothing issued to Children in the Apprentices’ Home. Indexed. 3. Memorandum Book recording Locations, Changes, and Removals (of children in care of the Protestant Orphan Society), 1857-97. Inserted inside the front cover are cuttings giving the Society’s account balance sheets for 1855 and 1856.
